Kepler Motors Motion

In keeping with the theme of my sensible story about E85 yesterday, I thought I would share this piece of news that is coming out of Autocar’s online news section this morning. Kepler motors, a California-based startup founded by water and land world speed record holder Russ Wicks, has debuted its first project at the Dubai motor show this week. Dubbed the Motion, this two seater claims a 0 to 60 time of 2.5 seconds and “easily bests” 200 mph.  Power is supplied to the rear wheels by a 542 horsepower twin-turbo Ford V6 and to the front wheels by a separate 247 bhp electric motor. A unique combination, if I don’t say so myself, and while it certainly does qualify as a “hybrid.” I have to say the connotations of that word are being pushed pretty far in this application.

Production of the custom engineered auto will be limited to just 50 examples, sold for an as yet unspecified price to the most exclusive high-end buyers. One would imagine that had something to do with the chosen venue for its debut. First deliveries are set to begin in 2011, but given the fact that no physical examples of the car have actually been seen yet, mark me down as skeptical.
